The sixth section below lists information about the dates of the marriage announcements.

Three announcements preceded this marriage. The banns were read, at the the local parish church in the Siniarzewo, on August 6th, 10th, and 17th before the marriage date in September of the current year.

Gosławice No. 4

This happened in Siniarzewo on September 4, 1905 at 2 o'clock p.m. We declare in the presence of Jakob Poieszowski, age 45, and Szczepan Dębowski, age 43, peasants residing in the village of Gosławice, district of Sędzin that on this day a religious marital union was contracted between: Stanisław Jędzejczak, a 23 year old bachelor who was born and resides in the village of Gosławice, son of Walenty and Zofia geb. Kacprzak, and Michalina Pluskota, single girl aged 19, peasant from the village of Gosławice; born in the village of Podgaj in the district of Służewo, daughter of Paweł Pluskota and Rozalia geb. Bilarska. Three announcements preceded this marriage. The banns were read, at the the local parish church in the Siniarzewo, on August 6th, 10th, and 17th before the marriage date in September of the current year.

The first article was written by Nancy of Fermazin Family Genealogy and Others. In the article titled Ferrmazin Family History, Nancy writes about her search for the Fermazin family in Prussian Poland. Nancy provides tips to help other researchers.

The second article was again written by Nancy of Fermazin Family Genealogy and Others. In the article titled Ferrmazin Poem, Nancy writes a very clever and informative poem about the search for her Fermazin family.

The third article was written by Antra of Discovering Latvian Roots. In the article titled Tips, Tricks, and Websites, Antra wrote about techniques to further ones research in Latvian Genealogy.

The fourth article was written by Zenon of Polish Origins. In the article titled Polish Genealogy Databases, Zenon unveils the new Polish Genealogy database tool that his team at PolishOrigins created. An excellent new tool!

The fifth article was written by Thomas MacEntee of Destination:Austin Family. In the article titled Working With Surname Variations, Thomas writes about another very cool tool that can be used to determine various spellings of surnames.

The sixth article was written by Donna Pointkouski of What's Past is Prologue. Donna's article titled Say It in Polish showcases a language tool that vocalizes typed words in Polish!

The seventh article was written by Steve Danko of Steve's Genealogy Blog. Steve's article is titled Acronymns, Abbreviations, and Contractions in Genealogical Documents Written in Latin. In this article Steve provides multiple websites and tools that can be used for translating and transcribing Latin documents that will be encountered during genealogy research.

The eighth article was written by Jessica Oswalt of Jessica's Genejournal. Jessica's article is titled Searching For My German Ancestors - Some Resources. In this article Jessica provides numerous resources for researching German ancestry.

The ninth article was written by Al Wierzba of Al's Polish-American Genealogy Research. The article is titled PTG Transcription Project and Website that deals with finding and utilizing records that are indexed on the PTG website.

Thanks to Steve Danko, from Steve's Genealogy Blog, I was able to complete the missing word from my previous post "Marriage of Stanislaw Andrzejczak and Michalina Pluskota Part 2". The word that I was missing was a part of a couple word description that meant "peasants residing in".  Thanks again Steve!

Wysocin - Gmina Badkowo - Slownik Geograficzny Translations

Hello,

Below is my translation of the Słownik Geograficzny Krolestwa Polskiego entry for Wysocin, which is located in Gmina Bądkowo, Powiat Aleksandrów, Województwo Kujawsko-Pomorskie. Any errors in the translations are completely my own.

Wysocin,

A village, folwark (manor farm), and colony that are located near the Bachorzą valley and in powiat Nieszawa and gmina Bądkowo. It belongs to the Bądkowo Parish. Wysocin is a distance of 12 verst from Nieszawa and 6 verst from Brześć. It has 206 inhabitants. In 1827, there were 11 houses with 110 inhabitants.

In 1886, the Wysocin folwark's land area was 620 morgs:

585 morgs of arable farm and garden land, 18 morgs of meadows, 152 morgs of forest, 2 morgs of pasture, and 14 morgs of barren land. There were 18 brick buildings, 2 wooden buildings, and crop rotation was distributed among nine and a half fields.

The peasants lived on the separated Wysocin colony, which had 18 houses with 186 inhabitants.


Also, the entry contains village history that I will revisit at another time.

PTG Transcription Project and Website

PTG Transcription Project and Website: A submission for the 24th edition of the Carnival of Central and Eastern European Genealogy


One tool and website that has made many appearances on Al's Polish-American Genealogy Research blog is the PTG Pomorskie Towarzystwo Genealogiczne (Pomeranian Genealogical Association) Transcription Project website. This tool is an extremely useful index that can be utilized for finding birth, marriage, cemeteries, and death records from the Pomorskie Voivodeship.

The website is available in the following languages: Polish, English, German, and Russian. Navigating through the website is very easy. To find the baptism, marriage, death, or cemetery indexes choose the Database link on the websites toolbar. The page that will display is seen below:

Each of the indexes are fairly simple to navigate through and can be searched by entering only a surname (as illustrated in the picture below).

Big Day for the Milwaukee Polonia

Hello,

Yesterday was a big day for the Milwaukee Polonia. For the first time, since the first Polish immigrants arrived in Milwaukee in 1846, Milwaukee has a Polish-American Archbishop. The Diocese of Milwaukee has announced that Bishop James Edward Listecki, from the La Crosse Diocese, was named the new Archbishop of Milwaukee.

I would like to share the marriage record of my great-grandparents and my attempt at transliterating the Russian text. First, I will share the whole document. Then I will break it down into sentences, along with my transliteration attempt.

Now, I would like to present the first sentence or section of the marriage record. I will be using Jonathan D. Shea and William F. Hoffman's guide, In Their Words Volume II: Russian, as my reference source for transliterating the Russian marriage document. The first section below lists the place and date of the marriage.

Wloclawek Archives Request Part 3

Hello,

Yesterday, I had signed for and then received a special delivery from the Włocławek Archives in Poland. The delivery included 13 church records (marriage, death, and baptismal) from the Siniarzewo Parish. Among the scanned documents are the baptism of my great-grandfather Stanisław Andrzejczak and the marriage record of my great-grandparents Stanisław Andrzejczak and Michalina Pluskota. All the records are written in the Russian Cyrillic handwriting, so they will take some time to transliterate. 

I will start with the marriage record of Stanisław Andrzejczak and Michalina Pluskota. I will post my progress in stages. I am really pumped about learning more from these records....

Toporzyszczewo - Gmina Badkowo - Slownik Geograficzny Translations

Below is my translation of the Słownik Geograficzny Krolestwa Polskiego entry for Toporzyszczewo, which is located in Gmina Bądkowo, Powiat Aleksandrów, Województwo Kujawsko-Pomorskie. Any errors in the translations are completely my own.

Toporzyszczewo,

1) A village and folwark (manor farm) are located in powiat Nieszawa and gmina Bądkowo. It belongs to the Bądkowo Parish. Toporzyszczewo is a distance of 12 verst from Nieszawa. It has 196 inhabitants. In 1827, there were 12 houses with 149 inhabitants.

In 1875, the Toporzyszczewo folwark's land area was 1123 morgs:

832 morgs of arable farm and garden land, 29 morgs of meadows, 152 morgs of forest, 2 morgs of water, 88 morgs of waste area, and 21 morgs of barren land. There were 5 brick buildings, 2 wooden buildings, and forests nieurządzony (possibly unorganized forestry?).

The village of Toporzyszczewo has 47 settlements on 85 morgs of land.

Also, the entry contains village history that I will revisit at another time.
